SARASOTA - New College of Florida, the liberal arts college in Sarasota, will announce a new president Saturday.
New College has been searching nationally for a new president since October. The new president will succeed Dr. Gordon E. Michalson Jr., who retires in July. The appointment must be certified later this month by the state.
The college's Board of Trustees will make the announcement at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sainer Pavilion, at 5313 Bay Shore Road in Sarasota.
The search was led by Archer-Martin Associates of Nantucket, Mass. The five finalists are:
? Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith, provost and academic vice president at Drew University in New Jersey.
? Dr. Thomas Krise, dean of the College of the Pacific at the University of the Pacific in California.
? Dr. Gregory Hess, dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Claremont McKenna College in California.
? Dr. Kevin Quigley, president and CEO of the National Peace Corps Association in Washington, D.C.
? Dr. Donal O'Shea, dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.
